Caitlyn Whitaker Ms. Lehmann English 2-1B 17 December 2019 The party “First day of school, get up” my mom yelled as she turned on the light in my bedroom. I sat up and pulled the covers off of my feet. “Are you excited?” my mom asked. “ Its your first year of high school.” “Yes” I said sarcastically. “I’m totally looking forward to going to a new school with people I don’t even know.” “But your sister went there and she loved it. Did you know she won student of the year…” “Four times in a row” I finished for her. “yes I know mom, I was alive back then too.” “You better get hurry and get ready, the bus will be here soon and fix your attitude young lady or you wont be successful like your sister.” She shouted at me. “I don’t want to be like her.” I shouted back as I stormed out the door. When I got outside, I decided to walk to school instead just so i could be late to school and make my mom more mad. As i was walking down the sidewalk a voice from behind me yelled "Hey! new girl, wait up." I turned around to see two girls running towards me. They both looked my age and one of them had brown hair, the other had blonde. When they caught up to me, the girl with brown hair said "your our new neighbor right? My name is Olivia and this is my other friend Alisha. I live across the road from you and Alisha lives right next to you." "Hello" I said " nice to meet you, my name is Camry." Alisha pulled out a package of cigarettes from her pocket. "Do you want one?" she asked "No thanks" I said, "i don't smoke" "you sure?" she asked " everyone does it unless your lame." "okay i'll take one" i said as she handed it to me. I didn't want to make my new friends think i was lame. When we finally got to the school, i said goodbye to Alisha and Olivia. Then i went to find my new classes. In my first class, which was history. The teacher seen my last name and spent the rest of the class talking about my sister. Then I went to english, where the teacher also told me how amazing my sister was. By the time it was lunch, I was already tired of hearing people praise my sister when I knew I was just going to disappoint them. Alisha and Olivia came and sat by me at the lunch table. "Did you hear about the party friday night?" Alisha asked me. "No" I said "why?" "It's going to be the wildest party ever! We have to go." Olivia said. "Okay" I said. " I'm in.' "Perfect!" Alisha said. " We'll pick you up at 8." and the next few days were torturous with piles of homework each night. Soon, I found myself looking forward to the party. Finally, It was Friday and i went to go get ready. I decided to just wear jeans and a nice shirt so that i wouldn't be to fancy. Then, i put on a little bit of makeup. True to their word, Alisha and Olivia showed up at exactly 8 and then drove me to the party. When we arrived, there was this huge house and it looked like the whole school showed up. We walked inside and some guy asked us “do you want to play truth or dare?” My friends looked at me. “Yes of course” they said as they grabbed my arm. We walked into an upstairs room in the house where there was like 10 people all sitting in a circle. I didn’t know any of them but I went and joined them with Alisha and Olivia. “Okay Olivia” a girl from across the circle said “ I dare you to make out with John.” John, apparently was sitting 3 people away from me. Olivia got up and went over to John and made out. Then she returned, wiping her mouth. Olivia looked at me and said “Camry, I dare you to take 10 shots.” I turned bright red, and everyone was starting to stare at me. “I’m sorry but I don’t drink.” I said “Camry, you have to do it.” Olivia said “ or we can’t be your friends anymore.” I didn’t want to do it but I also didn’t want to lose my new friends. So I walked over to where the shots were and I drained them all within a minute. “I knew you could do it!” Alisha said as she have me a clap on the back and sat back down. The game continued but all of a sudden I couldn’t see clear and I started to feel dizzy. Next thing I knew, I passed out. When I woke up, I ran home and told my mom everything. She told me that everything would be alright. After that I swore I would never do that again.
