Caitlyn Whitaker Ms. Lehmann English1-3 19 September 2018 Summary of “Rituals of Memory” Kimberly Blaesar’s short story, “Rituals of Memory,” argues that we always come back to our roots. Blaesar begins her essay with metaphor that shows readers her opinion about how relationships to family and community work. She uses her memories and the legionnaires as evidence for her claim. Blaesar also mentions that in her young life, she had to learn two different experiences. She went to school to learn about her Catholic side. Then, in between school days, she would learn about her Native American side. The life she lived made her who she was. Blaesar summarizes that our stories and memories are the things that define us.
