Caitlyn Whitaker Ms. Lehmann English 1-3 15 March 2019 As you like it response Recently, I watched a play from Shakespeare called As You Like It. The set was based in the 80’s. I thought the play was decent because it did go with the 80’s theme and the acting was okay. To me, they could have made the play more exciting. Their costumes went with the 80’s theme because the person who played as Phoebe had a big pink skirt with a shirt, and black fluffy hair to match. Another thing that went with the theme was the music. They played all 80’s music, and when the people looked at each other, they would play music that showed that the characters fell in love. The wrestler wore bright colors that also went with the 80’s theme. The set went really well with the play. They made it so it is still Shakespearian, but you know what is going on. They had green speakers they could move and use as the forest. Also, they had a tower and they put banners over it so that you knew it was the castle. All of the actors did great, especially Orlando and the wrestler. They did amazing when they had to make it look like they were hitting each other and hurting each other when they weren’t. My favorite actor was probably Rosalind because she took the lead and was smart. She was the one who came up with a plan to escape and make sure they looked like guys. She also came up with the big idea in the end about whom everyone would marry. In my opinion, I think the play was pretty great. The actors definitely worked really hard on it, and I liked how fast they could change their costumes. Yes, the actors could have made it more exciting, and maybe if they would have spoken like people did in the 80’s that would have been good. Other than that, I would give the play 3 out of 5 stars.
